Matinee Café started in May 2004 by Brian Mason. The original location was in the Old Texas Theater, right down the street from the Majestic Theater, in downtown San Antonio. The restaurant was decorated with a fun theater theme and a jazzy Broadway feel.
In October 2006, locals Trey & Debbi Brooks bought the café from Mason and developed it into a café like no other. Trey added signature sandwiches and tasty soups, along with delectable homemade daily blue-plate specials to the extensive menu. Matinee Café continues to provide delicious cuisine inside an office building located at the Jefferson Bank Building on 410, to its employees, welcoming outside guests and enjoying the people we service in the fun atmosphere we create.
In 2018, we decided to open a second location in the Village on the Green on Basse Rd. This location is a full service restaurant serving lunch and dinner Monday - Saturday. We feature Lebanese food, a little Italian, a little North American, our deli sandwiches, fresh salads and homemade desserts.
From breakfast tacos, to pancakes and omelets, we offer a tasty meal at a reasonable price. Our hearty sandwiches are made with the choicest meats and freshest vegetables and our tasty bread is unique to this area. We grind and brew our coffee on premise and refills are free.
